Why do exit pages matter so much?
Exit pages reveal where users give up. I’ve used them to fix funnels — and also to chase ghosts when logic was wrong.
Why GA4 doesn’t help much?
There is no “exit” event.
- page_view is just a view
- GA4 UI hides the logic
- Raw data gives no hint
Without sequencing, exits don’t exist.
What exit really means in BigQuery? An exit is simply the last page in a session. Nothing more. Nothing magical.
How I approach it now? I order events inside sessions and mark the final page.
- No shortcuts
- No assumptions
- Just sequence and logic
Suddenly, exit pages start making sense.
